Heavy Metal in Baghdad is a documentary feature film that follows the Iraqi heavy metal band Acrassicauda (Latin for a deadly black scorpion native to Iraq) from the fall of Saddam Hussein to their escape from Iraq. The band members – Firas (bass), Tony (lead guitar), Marwan (drums) and Faisal (lead vocals and rhythm guitar) – were bred on American heavy metal albums, learning to speak English by listening to Slayer, Metallica and Slipknot. Playing heavy metal in a Muslim country has always been a difficult (if not impossible preposition, but, after Saddam’s regime was toppled, there was a brief moment for the band in which real freedom seemed possible. That hope was quickly dashed as their country fell into a bloody insurgency.
Directors Eddy Moretti and Suroosh Alvi traveled to Baghdad to find Acrassicauda, Iraq’s most famous heavy metal band. From 2003-2006, Iraq disintegrated around Acrassicauda while they struggled to stay together and stay alive always refusing to let their heavy metal dreams die. Their story echoes the unspoken hopes of an entire generation of young Iraqis.

This is my first completed original song. It’s a melodic death metal song called The Pain of Hell, written and recorded by me. It is the first single off the album “Apocalyptic Vision” I hope to complete soon. I have all 12 songs written and will record them asap. I also had this song copyrighted on myfreecopyright.com. Also the guitar quality isn’t that great on youtube, it sounds better through the real mp3 file. It got reduced a little when I uploaded it, but oh well.
Everything you hear in this song is me. I am playing the drums, keyboard, both guitars, and the vocals (yeah no bass, i wasn’t good enough). Yes, the vocals are mine. I know they are amature but they sounded pretty good after I added some reverb, delay, and compression.
The distortion/feedback sound comes from the keyboard which was really old and not the best, so please ignore that. I recorded it with a yamaha psr-180 keyboard and an epiphone special 2 guitar ran through a digitech RP255 pedal and recorded to Sony Acid Music.
This song was highly influenced by the Finnish metal band, Norther, as you can see if you are familiar with them, with some influences from other melodic death metal bands such as Children of Bodom, In Flames, Kalmah, and also youtube user CrazysheeP. Check out his work by the way, it’s amazing.
The lyrics on this song were written by both me and my friend jake about a year ago and I changed them up a little and decided to finally record it. The lyrics are basically describing someone who is going through deep depression and is trying to save himself before resorting to suicide (no connection to me of course lol).

Watch to the end for the best (Cesium!)! A wonderful representation of the alkali metals and their accurate reactivity with water. unlike brainiac, who did infact use explosives in their episode for rubidium and cesium. Very worth a watch.
