Try a vinegar wash. But, anytime you remove the factory "shine" from tin, you will promote eventual rust thru. It will take a long time, to actually rust, but it will rust. Try hose end sprayer w/ tri sodium phosphate if its already on the roof. or wipe it down prior to installation.
