Not all the songs are just growls and screaming or satanic. The lyrics usually have a lot of meaning. There are some who like it but most of the filipinos I know don’t like metal music.
MUCH BETTER…..so the mainstream f@ggots rockband{kuno} lame pinoy bands wont interfere with my choice of music….MOTORHEAD/ RAMONES….
How come metal music isn’t so popular in the Philippines?

steriotyping – maybe they jsut dont like it cause they assume society dislikes it
so when they hear it they dont really listen (or open to the possibility of it being good)

yes some of the lyrics have some meaning. but the music, to be honest with you – for me, its noise just like a jet engine or a truck roaring.

coz i don’t like the way it sounds.

Music tastes in general come and go with time and the sooner you can accept that, the easier it is for you.
This decade from 2000-2009 it’s been rap, rhythm and blues.
During the 90s it was heavy metal, alternative rock.
During the 80s… you’ve guessed it… new wave/pop.
I think rock music will make a comeback into the mainstream within the next 2-3 years.

Yeah, lyrics may be very meaningful, but for the sake of MUSIC, I guess, it’s just a noise. It doesn’t even have melody in it, I guess, just like plain rap.
Filipinos listen more to pop music because they always want to be "in." Another stupid reason, I guess.

Because of the decibels.
Jezebel, that mermaid, might just complain to Neptune that humans are competing wih siren’s songs, and that sea God might just declare war on us.

because filipinos are mostly emotional and prefer to express themselves in a more romantic way. you can’t be that romantic to your partner dedicating her a metal music, that’s surely ridiculous!

Most filipino girls i know are really in to death metal.

i like a few heavy metal bands like metallica, alice in chains, Prodigy ( influenced by my brother). but mostly I like alternative or grunge, like pearl jam, soundgarden, candlebox.
Because of this, I sometimes could not relate to my friends, who were into rap, hiphop or what was currently "in" on mainstream radio. Hearing it the first few times is okay, and a bit catchy, but hearing it everywhere, over and over and over again, is tiring.

Hey baby – as I said I love you. But the music type you prefer you have to change I love country music. You know like "good morning america how are you…." or "Waltzing Matilda" – I also luve "long life America" and "god save our president". – If it comes to metal ? "The unforgiven" it is basically the story of mine. When my ball sack was cut off by an angry vietnamese man…

You mean steel drum music like from Jamaica? Well if the disc jockeys would turn to the music, the Philippines would follow suite.. Maybe this type of music is too loud for the people from the Philippines… Let’s keep it that way!

Most of those in Cebu only play music with a lot of bass and a heavy bass drum beat.
The louder the better.
Beatles and Elvis are really popular here too.

BORN TO RAISE HELL,….WE KNOW HOW TO DO IT, AND WE DO IT PRETTY WELL……..
because, i think, we have this bandwagon mentality, wherein whatever is considered "hit" or "in" by others, we very well adapt. we love being in the "in" crowd. we have really short memories and attention span. that’s why Philippine politics is such a drag, we never dared to spend too much time in one issue, most especially if its long overdue. (i.e ZTE, Hello Garci?, Kuratong Baleleng, Jueteng, Jose Velarde– everything else was and will always be replaced by newer, fresher issues.)
i myself am guilty of this most of the times.

Because Pinoys like more the rap type of songs. In the Cordillera Region they like more of the country songs.

Because music and lifestyle come together hand in hand. Music is an expression of ideas, personality, and talent.
Most Filipinos are ain’t that much expressive.
Metal is not fundamentally Filipino. Filipinos are generally laid back and a happy-go-lucky specie. As far as I can tell, it’s been mainstream pop and love ballads from the West and we have copied them.
And a couple of novelties, folk, rap, RnB, and disco tunes. Anything that can make them move. Anything that inspires romanticism. No need for hate. No need to raise hell. And no need for nuclear weapons.
